The Perrin Technique

Services

What is the Perrin Technique?

A specific treatment programme using a gentle, hands-on treatment approach used mainly for people with ME/CFS (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis / Chronic Fatigue Syndrome). It has also been used to help post-viral fatigue syndromes and long-lasting exhaustion with cognitive symptoms such as “brain fog”.

It was developed by Dr. Raymond Perrin, an osteopath, and is based on the idea that problems with drainage of fluids in the body—particularly around the brain and spinal cord—may contribute to symptoms.

A typical session involves gentle manual techniques, such as:

After initial assessments, appointments last 30 minutes, and treatment is usually given over a series of sessions, not just one visit.

People who respond to the Perrin Technique sometimes report improvements in:

Improvements are often gradual, and not everyone responds in the same way.

Research is ongoing. Some small studies and patient reports suggest benefit, particularly for ME/CFS, but it is not considered a cure.

The Perrin Technique offers a gentle, supportive approach for people living with chronic fatigue–related conditions.
