Pre and Postpartum Osteopathy

During pregnancy a women’s body is continually changing to allow for the baby to grow. These changes can all lead to additional pressure being placed upon joints in various parts of the body, especially the spine or pelvis. After birth, repeated bending, sitting in feeding positions, lifting car seats, or carrying the baby on one hip can also add additional strain on the body.

Osteopathy can help to treat aches and pains which develop due to the stresses and strains placed upon the body during pregnancy and after labour. Osteopathic care could include the use of joint articulation, soft tissue techniques cranial techniques. An Osteopath can also provide you with self-management advice and support for the different stages of pregnancy, health management advice, exercise therapy or onward referral to another health professional, as determined by the individual needs of each patient.
