All Osteopaths are qualified to treat babies and children, all our Osteopaths are DBS checked. Osteopathic techniques such as cranial and classical are gentle in nature and suitable for children at all stages of development.
During your child’s Osteopathic appointment there will be plenty of time to talk through your concerns. The Osteopath will begin by asking questions about your child’s presenting complaint, they will also ask questions regarding their medical history which may include the birth and your pregnancy. They will then observe your child’s posture and movement, Osteopaths take a holistic approach to treatment this will include not only the area of concern but the whole body to assess where the symptoms may be coming from. The Osteopath will then discuss with you what they have found and their working diagnosis and treatment plan for your child. They will then give your child a gentle Osteopathic treatment; they may also give some self-management advice, exercise therapy for you to do at home with your child or refer you onwards to another healthcare professional where appropriate.
Please bring milk, finger food a favourite toy or dummy to entertain them during the session. It is possible to treat a baby where he or she is being fed.
