Osteopathy and Arthritis

Arthritis is a general term that covers many different conditions affecting bones muscles and joints all over the body. Most people recognise the two most common types, osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. However, there are many others such as ankylosing spondylitis, fibromyalgia and gout.

Whatever type you may have, whether it is a degenerative condition or an inflammatory one, the common symptom that patients experience is pain.

Arthritis suffers commonly report hand pain, neck pain, hip pain and back pain. Not just in the areas where the arthritis is, but in other joints as well. This is because arthritis causes reduced mobility, which in turn causes patients to move differently and impacts the rest of their body.

But although there is no known cure for arthritis, that doesn’t mean that there is nothing that can be done.

Foot Health Awareness Month

April is Foot Health Awareness Month and here at Amber Health we are encouraging you to think about your feet and look after them to help keep them free from injury, pain and illness.

Most of us don’t think about our feet often, but they are actually pretty amazing. Your feet contain one quarter of all your bones, with 33 joints, 26 bones, 19 muscles and 107 ligaments in each foot. And every time we use our feet, we are asking them to provide us with support and balance, whether we are standing, walking, running or jumping.

Since most of us take between 5,000 and 10,000 steps every day, it’s easy to see why our feet are so prone to illness and injury!
