I am Michelle Cox. I can help you with a wide range of lower leg and foot conditions such as tendonitis, knee pain, ankle pain, heel pain, hip problems, back pain, over pronating, shin splints, flat feet, painful insteps, painful foot arches, groin tightness, leg length discrepancy and hammer toes. I can help you to improve your running gait and your posture too.
If you have foot pain, corns, verrucae, hard skin, yellow nails, heel fissures, toe nail fungus, blisters, callus, athletes foot, chilblains, foot deformities, bunions or in-growing toe nails, I can work on these for you too.
I will assess your condition and if required, I may design and prescribe specific insoles to improve your foot position and help you feel the benefit of good foot support. I may also refer you to an Osteopath if I think some extra help may speed your recovery after your visit to me.
If you visit an Osteopath or Sports Therapist here at Amber they may well refer you to me for an assessment after your consultation with them, as many back, spinal and postural problems can be related to foot imbalances or gait issues.
I see a wide range of people – children, adults, sports people, dancers, mums to be, the elderly, diabetics and those with other medical conditions that affect the feet.
Thanks for reading about how I can help you and what I specialise in. I look forward to helping you to be proud of your feet.
What makes your job worthwhile?
Being able to help people understand the reason for their discomfort.
What is unique about how you work?
I will often make up a temporary insole for people to try for 2 weeks before making up a permanent which they find very beneficial.
Who has influenced you most in your career as a Podiatrist?
One of my biomechanics lecturers at university inspired me; I was the only student in my year who had an interest in biomechanics so he took me under his wing.
What’s the piece of advice do you give to your patients/clients most often?
Persevere with their insoles!
What do you enjoy doing when you are not at work?
Lots of yoga, running with my Labrador and socialising with family and friends.
